What's it about?

For tens of thousands of years of our time as recognisable humans, stone tools were our chief form of interaction with the natural world. Without lithic technology it is unlikely we would exist today in our present form.

Our flint knapping course is designed to put you in touch with a world before metal. It will also give you an insight into the skill and prowess of our ancestors whose primitive technologies were in fact highly advanced techniques and principles born out of generations of practice.

By the end of this course you should have a good understanding of the tools and techniques and some fine examples of the day to day equipment of the not so distant past.

Why choose us?

Your tutor for this course needs no introduction because he is arguably one of the finest practitioners of his craft currently operating in the UK. To find out more please follow this link to John and Val Lords own website. John is ably assisted by our own John Rhyder who is an accomplished flint knapper in his own right.
