Course content

We are excited to announce that Rob Speiden from Virginia USA will be joining us in March 2020. Rob is a professional search and rescue tracker and trainer and also a senior tracker in the CyberTracker system.

He will be delivering a basic tracking and an advanced search and rescue/human tracking programme followed up by an evaluation after both of these programmes which need to be taken sequentially.

Basic Human Tracking

  • Use tools to identify and record track evidence of a particular individual
  • Learn to see difficult tracks and sign in a variety of ground covers
  • Understand the science and art of aging tracks and sign

Professionally presented classroom sessions will be followed by the majority of the time spent outside putting the concepts you learn to use, exploring and practicing track preservation (measure, sketch, photograph and cast), situational awareness, trailing a person, and night tracking

Advanced Human Tracking

  • Apply signcutting and tracking tactics to large scale scenarios
  • Refine track and sign interpretation including direction of travel, aging, etc.
  • Construct an accurate and descriptive after action report of tracking tasks
  • Practice interviewing techniques to determine footwear and gait information about a missing person

Professionally presented classroom sessions will be followed by the majority of the time spent outside putting the concepts you learn to use, exploring and practicing methodical sign-cutting tactics, night tracking and large scale missing person scenarios. This is not an entry level class, and students should have attended the basic programme. While this course is oriented to search/rescue, military and law enforcement professionals, it is also designed for individuals that want to round out tracking skills.

NB the evaluation is currently full please let us know if you wish to be contacted should be have a cancellation
